Smoothboard Air- Super cool way to interact/monitor multiple devices in the classroom

What:  Interactive Streaming Option for BYOD
Cost:  Free Download to try and then $19.99/License
Why:  Great for Monitoring and/or projecting teacher screen to students

Okay- I have to admit I haven't personally tried this out but I viewed this video and thought about the benefits of this application.  This would be great in any classroom with byod or 1-1 devices.  It helps the teacher manage/monitor what the students are doing and it is interactive so that the teacher can teach and students can save notes right from the screen.  I would love to give this a try....maybe this summer with my own kids :-)  I will keep you posted!

Create a quick or comprehensive assessment in minutes!

What:  Quick/Easy site to Create/Give Quizzes
Website/URL: Quizizz - http://www.quizizz.com/
Cost:  Free
Why:  Great Site for quick assessment!

When I say quick , I mean literally it might take you 10 minutes to create a quiz, assign it and have the results as soon as the students have it completed.  Granted, all questions are multiple choice but what a great way to give a quick assessment.  This site seamlessly interfaces with Google Classroom.  Assign as a quiz or homework or print it off if the students don't have a device.  See the video above for a quick tutorial to get you going!

UPDATE:  5/31/2016- Now import questions from a csv!  Awesome!

Cappex- Seriously important site for high school students to look at - tons of links scholarships

What:  College & Scholarship Information
Website:  Cappex
Cost:  Free
Why:  Why not-  This offers a huge list of scholarships as well as complete information on College Searches and requirements.

So far I am fairly impressed with this site.  Even though I entered my 12 year old daughter's birth date in the system it would accept it - I am guessing you need to be in high school to actually sign up for an account. I created an account for myself and that I would graduate fairly soon.  It offers a comprehensive search on colleges and their requirements for getting into their college.  The thing I loved most about this site it that there is an abundant amount of information that links to numerous valid scholarships.  While I have 3 children that will be attending college during the same years (twins +1--everything times 3), we will need all the help we can get.  I am definitely bookmarking this to revisit when it is time.  Highly recommended for those with college aged students.

QR Code Creator for adding a QR Code about yourself or Website

What:  QR Code Generator
Cost:  Free (paid version offers scan tracking and other benefits)
Why:  For Resumes, Cover letters, & Business Cards

This QR Creator is the easiest and the best out there that I have found.  I tried several sites and found this to be the best.  When you create a Digital Business Card, once the code is scanned it brings up the contact information you want to share---including your photo, information you want shared and any websites/links.  It will also give the scanner the option to save to contacts on their phone.  This is super easy to do.  Just put your information in and create the code.  Download and save- print on labels to add to the back of a business card.  Many options and very handy.  If you wanted to keep track of the number of times it is scanned you can pay for monthly access to reports.
