YouTube Kids Great for Kids 10 and under- Free App

App:  You Tube Kids
Cost:  Free for iOS and Android
Age appropriate videos
Level- Pre K -3rd grade
Finally, youtube has created a safe place for kids to explore.  All videos are kid appropriate.  It has a link to tv shows for kids, a kids radio and an educational/learning link.  This will put parents minds at ease know their kids won't be coming across inappropriate videos.  This is also a great because it gives the parents the option to set a timer on how long children can use the app.

If you use Renaissance Learning in your school, this app is a must for iPads

Cost of App: Free
(School have
to have subscription to Renaissance Learning)
Rating by Jules: 5 star
Difficulty Level: Easy
Device: iPad

Are you assessing your students with the Star program by Renaissance Learning?  We assess our students 3-4 times per year with this program.  We ran into some issues  in our K-1 building.  The building was not equipped with a computer lab.  There was just 5 stations per room.  This posed a serious problem when assessing the students.  That is when the iPad carts came into save the day!  We loaded the "Star" app on the iPads and we were able to assess the entire class!  What a huge saving s of time for the teachers!  The app works great on the ipads, the only negative part about the app is that the URL had to be manually put into each iPad in the star app.  It stores on the ipad, but if the student clicks on "settings", it can be easily removed.  Students loved taking the assessment on the iPads!  I highly recommend this app!

Do you have a photo that you want to edit but you don't have Photoshop.  No problem PicMonkey is an easy, outstanding site that is a free online picture editor (it also has paid features available for more advanced editing).  It is super duper user friendly.  It offers all kinds of free basic editing along with some intermediate editing.  I love this website because it is (1) user friendly, (2) easy to upload a picture , (3) easy to add text to a picture, (4) easy to quick fix a picture that might be too dark or light while offering other free color alternatives for your photo (5) easy to add borders and (6) last but not least easy to save directly to your computer (or socially share) in three different file format sizes!
